It’s been a long time since I’ve done a planner update. That’s mostly because I was trying out so many different styles of planning that I actually just quit planners by October and started living off an A5 Midori notebook, sort of bullet journal style minus all the decorative lettering and what not. It was a simple vertical week at a glance layout with daily to-do lists and notes. When things got really busy the last couple of months, I was thankful for the highly functional system I had going, but deeply missed having a more permanent planning setup that would let me be functional and be able to do things like track goals, habits, etc. (I mean, even though I had no time for any of it…)
For my 2018 planner setup, I’m a) challenging myself to stay in ONE SINGLE setup for the WHOLE YEAR. Shrieeeeekkkkk! and b) to set myself up for success, I’m balancing out my need for functional planning with my love of stickers with a 2-planner system, so I don’t miss either midway through the year. To do that, here’s my setup. Quite different from previous years!
I wanted a notebook along with my planner so I’d have a lot of room for brainstorming, list-making, note taking, etc. but if you have a full year’s Hobonichi, I don’t think the Gillio cover would allow two notebooks. So I went with the Hobonichi Cousin Avec – the year is split into two notebooks. That lets me carry both a planner and a notebook together inside the Gillio Appunto.
To satisfy my Erin Condren Life Planner and sticker-loving side, I’m setting up a 2018 Hourly Erin Condren Life Planner as a memory planner. What I did everyday, and some overarching thoughts for the day… decorated as I please… lives on my desk at home.
It was a bit of a challenge figuring out how I would use the EC Life Planner – to make sure I’m not just duplicating things to satisfy my sticker craving. So even though I’m still figuring things out, for the most part I think I’ve got it.
Here’s a YouTube video of my 2018 planner setup – both my serious functional planner and my fun memory planner. Let me know in the comments below or on my YouTube channel, what your 2018 planner setup or system looks like!
